Before Sabrang had a stage, it had a conversation.
At an outdoor café in London’s Leicester Square, a conversation about music opened the door to something bigger. How could gifted artists find the support, creative freedom and audiences their work deserved?
For entrepreneur and music lover Devinder Walia, ghazal singer Tauseef Akhtar and poet Roop Sagar, that question became a shared purpose. Their connection brought together a love of Hindustani music, the intimacy of the ghazal and the expressive power of poetry.
Founded in the UK in 2017, Sabrang International grew from that purpose: to help artists develop their craft and bring their work to listeners through recordings and live experiences.
Today, Sabrang is an independent record label and a home for musical collaboration. We bring together artists, poets, musicians and audiences through releases, concerts and creative projects, with a particular love for ghazals, Sufi expression and Indian musical traditions.
Our ambition is to make room for music that asks us to pause and listen. To give emerging voices a platform. To bring familiar traditions into new conversations. And to create encounters that stay with people long after the final note.
Sabrang International. Many voices. One shared love of music.
